The 139th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, globally renowned as the Canton Fair, has concluded its first stage, marking a historic milestone. According to organizers on April 19, the event closed with a record number of foreign buyers, solidifying its position as the epicenter of global trade.

By the end of this initial phase, approximately 167,000 international buyers from 216 countries and regions attended in person at the Guangzhou complex. This figure represents a 5.9% increase compared to the same period of the previous edition—a data point that the China Foreign Trade Centre highlights as proof of the resilience and vitality the Asian giant maintains in its commercial relations with the world.

Under the theme "Promoting Manufacturing," this opening phase focused on industrial and technological innovation. The scale was massive: more than 25,000 booths and the participation of over 12,000 exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in machinery, electronics, and industrial solutions.

Outlook for the Coming Weeks

Although the first stage has concluded, activity in Guangdong Province remains non-stop. The fair is organized into three in-person phases extending until May 5. The second stage, scheduled from April 23 to 27, will shift the industrial focus toward "Quality Home Living." During these days, attendees will find a wide range of building materials, furniture, household products, gift items, and decorations.

Since its establishment in 1957, the Canton Fair has been held uninterruptedly twice a year. Due to its longevity and business volume, it is considered the official barometer of Chinese foreign trade and the oldest and most important entry platform for entrepreneurs looking to connect with the global market from Guangzhou.
